Chosen idea

Introduction

For my final idea I have chosen the theme of Christmas in London. As the Christmas season is on its way I will be able to capture some great images capturing the Christmas spirit.

I wish to capture the spirit of Christmas in my images which I am able to do as families are going shopping, Christmas decorations are being laid out and everyone is getting in the mood for the shopping, the sharing, the love and also the food.

Examples

The first image is of Christmas decorations over a street during Christmas with the traffic passing underneath it. One side is blurred and the other is standing still this is achieved by playing with the shutter speed while one side is standing still and the other is moving forward. The shutter speed determines how long the lens is open for to capture the image and movement comes out in blur or in colored lines. This image captures what people do around Christmas time which is either sit down, relax while enjoying the atmosphere or you are on the move gathering gifts, visiting family. This is not direct in the image but I see this meaning towards it. This image is rather dark but that makes the lights stand out. that would be the decorations and the traffic lights.

This image captures the atmosphere which each shop wants to create but only the higher end shops are able to achieve this amazing look. This shows the perfect shop that families want to go and buy their presents at as it has the perfect atmosphere for the whole family. The image is very bright and clear which includes the festive season colours (red, green, gold). The image has a good ratio of light and shadow which makes the bright colours stand out more. in this case it is the gold ribins and decorations.

This image shows what the city is doing for the tourists and the every day residents in London. The city has put up lights and decorations around landmarks and popular markets to create a nice atmosphere. For the tourists it is a great treat as it looks beautiful for the time they are there after they go home. For the residents of London it is a nice treat as family's and friends can just go out and have a good time while just walking around and looking at the decorations and the lights which have been set up. At least that is what I see in the image. I like this image the best as everything you can see compliments itself. The wheel itself is white with lights on it illuminating it. The trees have blue lights on them and the sky is blue as well complimenting the lights on the trees and the ground.

The final image depicts the great time a family and friends can have at this festive season. The atmosphere is great with lights, a Christmas tree and of Corse the ice rink. This simply shows a great atmosphere where people can relax, have a laugh and have a warm drink off the ice rink. This image is very positive as there are plenty of lights illuminating the ice rink and the buildings. I can see people holding hands on the ice showing support and or love. A Christmas tree is clearly shown in the background which is illuminated with lights.

Conclusion

All of these examples have some aspect which I wish to show off in these images but most of all I wish to show off how London looks like at Christmas with its decorations and people going out either to shop or just to relax somewhere nice.
