Editing photographs in photoshop

Editing Photographs in Photoshop

First of all I needed to get an image and place it in Photoshop by clicking ‘file’ and selecting ‘place’.

Next a window pops up and asks you what image would you like to import and you browse you r computer for the correct file you wish to use.

Once the image was placed I cropped the image as it had a massive white background surrounding the image.

I cropped down the image so I only have only the image and no wasted screen space.

Once I had that done I placed another image and had to cut out the background around a person. For this is used a lasso tool to select an area on the image.

In the image above you can see that the highlighted area goes outside the image but on the image on the left you can see that I have multiple layers. Depending on what layer I have selected determines what will be affected by the editing.

Clicking the box I have shown with a red outline gives you the option to make your image black and white (or a selected area) which adds another layer.

I am also able to pick a tint if I want to instead of a black and white filter, as you can see the selected area has a filter on it now.

As I needed to get rid of the bacground I selected the eracer tool on the task-bar on the left and deleted anything on the certain area on  a spacific area.

I wanted to place the image in a certain place but only some of the image without the edges so it looks smooth. I did this with the clone stamp tool.

I select an image I wish to stamp by holding ‘alt’ and clicking on a certain part of an image. When I click and hold while moving the mouse the image starts apearing again in a different location on the same layer.

I repeated this in some different location to show that he is popping out at multiple places.

I could also change advanced settings of the colours with a few sliders by clicking a specific icon shown with a red square

I wanted to place this image sideways at one point so I had to turn it on an angle. To do this I went to ‘Edit’ and clicked ‘Free Transform’. I twisted it and placed it in the correct position and deleted what I needed so it looked like it was behind and object with the eraser tool.

I have finished most of the editing so the image is final all is needed to put in some finishing touches. Now I can condense all of these layers down into one image. I do this by right clicking on a layer and select the ‘Merge Visible’, after I have done this in the image below you can see it had condensed into one layer.

The final touch is a filter over the whole thing so the whole thing is coloured or black and white. I click on the ‘black and white’ tool. After this a task bar pops up and then you click ‘Tint’ when another task bar opens and now I was able to select a colour which is shown in an image on the left.

I did not want a colour on this image so I just placed a black and white filter on it to make the man black and white so he fit in the black and white image.

Those are the basic tools that you are able to use in photo shop. there are hundreds more tools that I can use and make sum outstanding images but i am not too familiar with them.
